Details: In an address on the New Apologetics given by His Eminence Cardinal William Levada, former Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, he stated: "One of the classic masters of apologetics in England in the first half of the twentieth century, Msgr. Ronald Knox, a convert from Anglicanism...embraced this double purpose in his life’s pursuit of apologetical writing: “This includes not only books in which he presents a rationale for the Catholic faith to those who do not hold it, but also many of his conferences and sermons addressed to Catholics, in which he seeks to help them better understand the faith they do hold” [M. Walsh, Ronald Knox as Apologist, pp. 12-13]. In his recent book The Difference God Makes, Cardinal Francis George makes this point again: “Apologetics is important first of all within the Church herself. We need to give reasons for the faith not only to enlighten those who do not share it but also to strengthen those within the household of the faith” [p. 65]. " (April 29th, 2010).

For these reasons, we would like to offer both the Newman and broader community a new series on understanding and explaining the Catholic faith. We will use both original classic and contemporary works of apologetics in our discussions. We will meet for 6 sessions beginning Monday, September 30th. 2019 until Monday, December 2, 2019. Each meeting will begin and end in prayer. Please join us for this adventure as we seek to grow in understanding and sharing our faith in Christ and His Bride the Catholic Church.

This series will occur on the following dates at the Newman Centre and is hosted by the Newman Young Adult Ministry (NYAM) and will all take place from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
