Holy Brew!: Trappist Monks and their Beer

Event Date:
Tuesday, August 6, 2019 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Trappist beers are considered some of the most complex and finest beers in the world! There are only fourteen monasteries in the world which produce and sell authentic Trappist beer. Now you’ll have the opportunity to try a few varieties of Trappist beer from various monasteries, while you browse through photographs of and learn about the history of each monastery and brewery, the beers they produce, the Trappist order, the evolution from monastic brewing to macro brewing and the International Trappist Association.

Disclaimer: Trappist beer will be available for purchase only. A flight of Trappist beers will also be available for purchase for those who would like to try more than one.

As always, free munchies will be provided!

Special guest: Andrew Carvalho

Andrew Carvalho was born and raised in the GTA, having lived in Pickering, Barrie, Ajax, Oshawa, and Bradford. He currently lives in Ottawa, where he works as nurse in three different retirement homes. When he’s not giving drugs to or dancing with seniors, he’s usually hanging out with friends, enjoying the vibrant Catholic community in Ottawa or attending Catholic and secular events. He enjoys volunteering, hiking, woodworking, playing board games and tasting different cuisine. Since April 2017, Andrew has served as the main organizer of Theology on Tap Ottawa, which has hosted nearly 30 annual events. Over the past few months, he has become a passionate Trappist beer enthusiast and has prepared an informative and interactive presentation, which he looks forward to sharing!
