Sporting A Roman Collar in the Naked Public Square:
What We Can, and Can’t Learn from Richard John Neuhaus

In this talk based on his acclaimed biography of Fr. Richard John Neuhaus, Randy Boyagoda, writer, professor and Principal of the University of St. Michael’s College in the University of Paris, discusses Fr. Neuhaus’s vocation to public life, from his small-town Canada boyhood through to his intellectual and activist work in New York, Washington, and Rome. In turn, Professor Boyagoda will propose ways in which contemporary Catholics can find a model in Fr. Neuhaus’ life and work for their own commitments to living out their faith in public life, including the classroom. Finally, Professor Boyagoda will invite a conversation about other possible models and the need for them today.
